The airports of Toulon Hyères in France as well as Beja, Madeira and Ponta Delgada in Portugal receive Level 5 of the ACI’s ACA programme the highest environmental distinction in the sector.
VINCI Airports, concession holder of six airports in the Dominican Republic since 2016, has its contract extended by the government until 2060.
JANUARY
London Gatwick becomes the first international airport to open an Electric Forecourt®, a filling station specifically for charging electric vehicles (EV). With 30 EV charging bays and points solely powered by renewable energy, the station is not only for airport passengers and staff, but also local residents, commuters and commercial fleets.
In Lisbon and Porto, VINCI Airports and ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal, manager of 10 airports in Portugal, launch the “Biometric Experience by VINCI Airports” a solution that digitises biometric data to offer a smoother and quicker boarding experience. This innovative project is supported by the European Union as part of the NextGenerationEU programme and will also launch at the airports of Faro, Madeira and Ponta Delgada.
FEBRUARY
The Rio-Antirrio bridge, operated by VINCI Highways, becomes the first concession in Greece to launch an e-pass subscription specifically for EVs. This initiative comes as part of the plan rolled out by VINCI Highways to strengthen its network’s environmental performance and support the decarbonisation of road mobility in the regions where it operates.
VINCI Highways signs an agreement to acquire NWP HoldCo LLC, concession holder for the Northwest Parkway, a 14 km toll road section of the Denver beltway in Colorado. Set to last until 2106, this concession has a remaining term of 83 years the longest on the highway concession sector in the United States.
