In 2023, VINCI Concessions finalised a €15 million investment in Hype, France’s first integrated hydrogen mobility platform, with a taxi fleet of some 350 vehicles. Hype was launched in Paris in 2015 during COP21 to address urgent health issues arising from air and sound pollution in urban environments. It is developing the first hydrogen mobility platform that simultaneously incorporates supply, production, distribution and usage, with taxis as the first relevant market. VINCI Concessions’ investment was accompanied by the implementation of a strategic partnership with Hype to step up the development of hydrogen mobility in France and beyond. Under this partnership, Hype will task VINCI Energies with building new hydrogen production and distribution infrastructure in the Greater Paris area. Twenty-six stations distributing locally-produced hydrogen 20 of which with a capacity of 1 tonne per day are expected to go into service in the next three years, and will be open to all. Moreover, VINCI Concessions will harness its resources to enable Hype to deploy its network of stations in other regions of France and internationally, including VINCI Energies’ expertise in hydrogen.
Hydrogen could play a key role in decarbonising road mobility; but in order to develop, this alternative energy will need to scale up.
€15 million invested in Hype, France’s first integrated hydrogen mobility platform
VINCI Concessions’ financial and strategic commitments support the rapid and massive shift of taxis and other forms of professional mobility to zero emissions. Hype plans to roll out the platform in 15 other regions in France and internationally by the end of 2025.
